Review Specification Toyota Camry XV50 2011 (Daihatsu Altis)

The XV50 Camry was produced from 21 August 2011, introduced on 23 August 2011, and began U.S. sales in September 2011. The interior received a major restyling, while the exterior received all-new sheet metal and more angular styling.

Enghine
The US Camry carried over three different engine choices from the previous model. Starting with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid model rated at 150 kW (200 hp), a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 133 kW (178 hp) and 230 N·m (170 lb·ft), and a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 200 kW (268 hp) and 336 N·m (248 lb·ft). Power output has been increased mostly by switching to electro-hydraulic power steering. The trim levels include the L, LE, SE, XLE, SE V6, XLE V6, Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE and for 2014 a Hybrid SE model. All models except for the hybrids are standard with six-speed automatic transmissions. No manual transmissions are offered. Hybrids are equipped with an eCVT transmission. The SE model gets paddle shifters, and a stiffer suspension. The new model has increased fuel economy due to lighter weight, a sleeker body, and low rolling-resistance tires.

1AZ-FE
The 1AZ-FE is a 2.0 L (1998 cc) version. Output is 108 kW (145 hp) at 6000 rpm with 190 N·m (140 lb·ft) of torque at 4000 rpm for the Camry Aurion version. Rav4 and Ipsum engines were rated at 148–150 hp (110–112 kW) at 6000 rpm and 142 lb·ft (193 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm. The 1AZ has a total displacement of 1998 cc with 86.0 mm (3.39 in) bore and 86.0 mm (3.39 in) stroke, and a compression ratio of 9.6:1. Applications: 2006–2009 Toyota Camry (Aurion version), 2001–2003 Toyota RAV4, 2003-2006 Toyota RAV4 Euro, 2001–2009 Toyota Ipsum.

2AR-FE
A 2.5 L version of the AR family, first released in the RAV4 in the U.S. and Canada in 2008. This engine also replaced the 2AZ-FE in the U.S. and Canada Camry in early 2009, giving 11% better fuel economy. The engine service mass is 324 lb (147 kg) that includes the oil and coolant fully filled. The engine is used in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand,China, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Applications: Toyota RAV4 (ASA33/38), 181 PS (133 kW; 179 hp)@6000, 233 N·m (172 lbf·ft)@4000, Toyota Camry ASV40 (Base & LE), 171 PS (126 kW; 169 hp)@6000, 226 N·m (167 lbf·ft)@4100, Toyota Camry ASV40 (SE and worldwide) 181 PS (133 kW; 179 hp)@6000, 233 N·m (172 lbf·ft)@4100, Toyota Camry ASV50, 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp)@6000, 233 N·m (172 lbf·ft)@4100, Scion tC (AGT20), 180 hp (130 kW), 173 lb·ft (235 N·m), Toyota Alphard (AH30).

2GR-FE
The 2GR-FE is a 3.5 L (3456 cc) version for transverse FWD, 4WD, or AWD mounting. Bore remains at 94 mm but stroke is reduced to 83 mm. Reported output varies depending on the vehicle application, but is approximately 268 hp (200 kW) to 296 hp (221 kW) at 6200 rpm with 248 lb·ft (336 N·m) to 260 lb·ft (353 N·m) of torque at 4700 rpm on 87 octane (R+M/2). This version features Toyota's Dual VVT-i, variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust cams. The cams are driven using a timing chain.

Valves are driven by roller-follower rocker arms with low friction roller bearings, and a unique, concave cam lobe design to increase valve lift over the traditional shimless lifter type system of the 1GR-FE. This increases overall cylinder head height to accommodate the slightly taller roller rocker system. Moreover, the cylinder head is segmented into 3 parts: valve cover, camshaft sub-assembly housing, and cylinder head sub-assembly. As such, this valvetrain is used across all other GR engines with Dual VVT-i. Its service weight is 163 kg.

Interior
Up front, the Toyota Camry features highly adjustable seats with good lateral and lumbar support - essential aspects on longer trips. Those sitting in the back have sufficient legroom and headroom, but also shoulder room. Therefore, three adults will ride decently in the back, while three children or two adults and one child are in for above-average comfort levels.
Visibility is top-shelf on all the car's four corners, while entry and exit are a breeze. Noise isolation is excellent whether we're talking about the wind, engine or tires as potential sources, which makes the Camry one of the most silent cars in its segment.
Not quite Lexus, but not bad either, as Toyota went for a no-nonsense approach. Expect the quality of materials to improve as you go up the trim ladder, but so does the price tag.mErgonomics are on point as well, but if you want flashy styling and a well-designed cabin, then higher trim levels are what you should look for. Overall build quality is better than average, and used models are squeakiness-free. Practicality With average cargo capacity (15.4 cu-ft) compared to rivals (the sleek Mazda6 offers 15 cu-ft of load space, for example) and a well-thought interior placement for the cubby holes and storing areas, the Toyota Camry can easily fulfill the needs of a family.
Also, there's the 60/40-split folding rear seat which can prove useful on road trips and holidays. Phones, wallets, and whatnot will always find a place around the cabin, while the trunk will carry three large baggage pieces and some extra bags and backpacks, if necessary. Infotainment. Seventh-gen Camrys feature Toyota's Entune Infotainment system which looks old but does the job if you're not looking for complex functions and meets most expectations despite the oldish appearance. Every Camry offers a 6.1-inch infotainment display, but the XSE and XLE V6 versions offer 7.0-inch screens. The graphics could have been sharper for the navigation system, for example, but the menus are clear and intuitive.
